I have been exploring the idea of the healthy home. Going beyond the idea of sustainability and environmental friendly, its about ensuring that the quality of our indoor spaces are keeping us healthy and happy. We spend close to 90% of our time inside, so I have been looking at improving air quality, low toxic materials and passive design.

As the resident colour expert at Creative Homes, I love playing with colour and tones. We have seen a lot of pastels – think sunset/sunrise shades in 2019. I think 2020 will head towards a pallete inspired by citrus – with a touch of mint or green. Fresh, sharp and happy tones to compliment your home.
Georgie
I’ve been inspired by sustainability and recycled materials – its all about keeping your carbon footprint low. I love the industrial look – mixing up metals and woods then softening them with some indoor plants or a vertical herb garden.
Richard
Home automation. I was a late convert, but after installing it and getting it all up and running, I cant be more impressed with it. We use it to turn the oven on our way home from work, get the heaters up and running early in the winter mornings and even set mood lighting for a romantic anniversary!

Given Tasmania’s cold winters, I am hoping the Scandanavian concept of Hygge takes off in 2020. Its all about embracing the cosiness of winter and celebrating the colder climates. Think natural textures like timber for building finishes and compliment them with luxurious fabrics like wool and velvet.
